LFA's Higo Signed to Bellator

The Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) is the premier developmental organization in MMA.

LFA 1 star Leandro “Pitbull” will finally get his shot at the big leagues. The former Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) and current LFA bantamweight champion made an official announcement of various social media platforms on Thursday.

Higo wrote on his official Facebook page, “I’m very happy to say I’m a Bellator MMA fighter! I couldn’t be happier with the plans they have for the future. I’m looking for another belt

now!

Thank you, LFA: Legacy Fighting Alliance and RFA: Resurrection Fighting Alliance for the opportunity you gave me. It was an honor to be your champion. It’s time to take the next step and show everyone I can be the best in the world. Thank you to my team Pitbull Brothers, my managers, my family, friends, fans, sponsors and those who sponsored me. It’s been a long and arduous journey and I couldn’t have made it alone.

I’ll put my heart and soul into my fights so that I make the best of this opportunity. You already changed my life for the better Bellator. Now I’ll put the Bantamweight division on fire!”

Higo defeated Legacy FC’s Steven “Ocho” Peterson by way of a unanimous decision on January 13 to unify the LFC/RFA 135-pound titles under the new LFA promotion. Higo is also a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4.

Higo will join his mentoring “Pitbull” brothers, Patricky and Patricio Freire by signing with Bellator. Patricky recently finished Josh “The Punk” Thompson by knockout at Bellator 172 to all but lock in his chance at Michael Chandler’s lightweight (155-pound) belt. Patricio will face Daniel Straus a fourth time at Bellator 178 in a rematch for the featherweight (145-pound) title that now belongs to Straus.

The date and opponent for Higo’s debut are unknown at this time.
