The Ultimate Fighter 25 Details Announced

The UFC announced during their Rodriguez vs. Penn broadcast that the 25th anniversary season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show will be known as The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption. The cast will be comprised of welterweights 170-pound fighters.)

Similar to TUF 4: The Comeback, which featured fighters that had been in the UFC and plateaued, season 25 will be made up of previous show contestants and winners of the show as well as a current member of the active UFC roster. Leading the charge as coaches will be former UFC bantamweight (135-pound) champion T.J. Dillashaw and current champion Cody “No Love” Garbrandt (pictured above.) The coaches will fight for the title post-show at a date to be determined.

The rivalry between the coaches started out of the ashes of a partnership as teammates representing the recently retired Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male gym. The now 30-year-old Dillashaw was recruited to Team Alpha Male out of high school but left last year with Alpha Male coach and former UFC fighter Duane “Bang” Ludwig for Elevation Fight Team.

“It’s funny because he called me out right after the fight because he knows that’s who he should be fighting,” Dillashaw said on’s The MMA Hour. “But then in the press conference, he’ll talk about ‘oh, let’s get Cruz a rematch,’ and he says he wants to call out Aldo or McGregor? He knows he wants to do everything he can to avoid that fight. I’ve practiced with him a long time, he’s a good fighter, but he knows how tough that fight’s going to be.”
