Freelance: McGregor Goes Digital in New Way
“The Notorious” one is coming to a console near you…in a much-unexpected fashion–camouflage and body armor. News came in yesterday from UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor’s Facebook page that he will be featured in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
McGregor wrote, “The best team up with the best! As a huge fan, I am honoured to be the first-ever MMA fighter in a Call of Duty game. Another first. Watch for me in Infinite Warfare on November 4.”
According to GameSpot.com, Infinite Warfare will be an outer space-based game set in the distant future with players navigating the game’s campaign mode as Captain Nick Reyes, “a Tier 1 Special Operations pilot who helms one of Earth’s last remaining warships.”
“This year, we’re both honoring the heritage of Call of Duty while taking players to incredible new heights,” Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said. “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a bold, new vision from the studio that created the original Call of Duty and Modern Warfare, and an adventure on an insanely epic scale that only Call of Duty could deliver.”
“…On one hand, this game is the kind of gritty, boots on the ground, visceral war story that Call of Duty is known for. On the other, its future setting takes players on a journey of epic scale and proportions, providing incredible gameplay innovations and new experiences for our fans. This is a grand scale, old-school, all-out war in an epic new-school setting. And it’s going to be a hell of a lot of fun” developer Infinity Ward’s Dave Stohl said.
At this time it is unclear of what exactly McGregor’s role will be. The standard multiplayer mode and a zombie mode that had been included in previous installments have been announced though. Opposite McGregor (in whatever his capacity) will be actor Kit Harington, Jon Snow from TV’s “Game of Thrones” as the game’s main antagonist.
FoxSports.com has reported that McGregor has already started filming scenes for the game.
