Vassell Forced Out of Bellator 158, Card Gets New Face

“I can only apologize to all my fans that bought tickets to come and support me, I clashes (sic) heads at training a few weeks back, I continued training as I hours I would heal in time, but my eye actually got infected which pushed my healing time back, stopped me from training. I will be back REAL SOON, hoping for a September return.”

The above quote is the announcement that England’s Linton Vassell didn’t want to have to make some 13 hours ago through his Facebook page–he’s off the Bellator 158 card. The will emanate from his home country. He was scheduled to throw fisticuffs against UFC veteran Francis Carmont (24-11.)

Later it was announced that the promotion had indeed found a replacement for the Bellator stalwart, fresh meat in Poland’s Lukasz Klinger. Both he and Carmont are looking to shake off some cobwebs with this matchup as Carmont is a less than spectacular 2-1 in his new organization.

Although Klinger has suffered losses his last two times in a cage, all of his seven victories have been stoppages (4 by KO/TKO, 57%) His total fight time in his seven wins according to stands at just 14:36.*

Carmont has not won through a finish since July 11, 2012 when he faced Karlos Vemola as a part of the UFC. Bellator 158: London is scheduled for July 16 at the O2 Arena.
