Chandler a Champion Again at Dynamite 2

*Written on location– Scottrade Center, St. Louis MO

“Iron” Michael Chandler may never get to face the man who defeated him for the Bellator Lightweight championship. Be that as it may, he appeared before his hometown crowd ready to compete for that belt with not a care in the world as to who was standing across the cage from him.

Walking through the dry ice of smoke machines amidst a chorus of cheers, he left the proving ground in the same fashion–only this time, with the reflections of those around him shimmering through the gold that now adorned his midsection after topping Patricky “Pitbull” Freire.

Some five years after these men met in their original confrontation, they tore down the Scottrade Center in the sequel.

Chandler opens as the aggressor but is caught with an uppercut that snaps his head back. A takedown attempt is stuffed by Freire after he posts a hand to the mat. They separate just long enough for Chandler to see space to attack and he does so.

A rigamortis-inducing right hook stops the contest with the loudest roar of the night serving as the evening’s symphonic background music.

Chandler remains unbeaten (3-0) at his home arena with three consecutive finishes.
