Dynamite II Comes to St. Louis
If you have plans on June 24–CLEAR THEM. As part of just a two fight contract after years of legal back-and forth with Viacom, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is coming to the “Gateway to the Midwest.”
Recently announced by Bellator, the 36-11-0 Jackson is facing 14-5-1 Satoshi Ishii at a catchweight. Jackson did have one Octagon appearance while still in litigation that saw him get his hand raised by way of a Unanimous Decision at UFC 186 against Fabio Maldonado. He is 3-0 in Bellator with his knockout total rising to 16 and his victims list now including Joey Beltran and Christian M’Pumbu.
Following a second UD victory against the popular Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal in May 2014, Jackson sat out until April 25 of last year when the contest with Maldonado came to fruition. Jackson is looking to return to the UFC at the end of this agreement.
His opponent in Ishii is a gold medal-winning Judo player out of Japan. A 4-1-1 record was capped off with a first round TKO at the hands of international legend, Fedor Emelianenko. Since that time he has taken out a number of UFC names of yesteryear, as MMAJunkie.com reports: Tim Sylvia, Sean McCorkle, Kerry Schall, Pedro Rizzo, Jeff Monson and Philip De Fries.
This will also be a Bellator Kickboxing hybrid event. The new upstart debuted at Bellator 152 in Italy last week but will be televised in the U.S. next Friday night following Bellator 153: Koreshkov vs. Henderson (featuring UFC veteran Benson Henderson in a Welterweight title fight in his promotional debut.)
After putting Brian Rogers down for a nap, Italy’s Alessio Sakara offered this prospect: “I don’t want to trash talk,” Sakara said. “It’s only my dream to fight Quinton Jackson in Bellator Kickboxing.”
